Record the right way.
Noteary helps you remember conversations — openly and respectfully. We do not support secret or covert recording, and we ask you to record responsibly.
Get consent
In many places, you must tell people they’re being recorded — and sometimes get their permission first. Before you hit record, let everyone know.
Laws vary by location
Some regions allow recording if one person consents; others require everyone to agree. When in doubt, ask first. You are responsible for following the laws that apply to you.
We show a reminder every time
Noteary displays a clear consent reminder before each recording and shows an unmistakable indicator while recording. We never record silently or in the background without you knowing.
Phone calls have limits
Phone-call recording isn’t reliably or legally possible on every device or platform. Where it isn’t supported, we won’t fake it — use in-app recording, upload a file, or capture on desktop where it’s allowed.
Sensitive settings
Be thoughtful recording in medical, legal, classroom, or workplace settings. Follow the policies of those institutions, and only record what you’re permitted to.
This guidance is general information, not legal advice. If you’re unsure whether you can record, ask the people involved or consult the rules that apply where you are.
