Getting better answers from Ask Memory

Ask Memory answers questions from what you actually recorded, with a link to each moment it quotes. It works best when you ask it the way you’d ask a colleague who sat in on every call.

Ask about a customer, a person or an acronym

  • Use the name as people say it. “What did Northwind say about the renewal?” works better than “What did the customer say?”.
  • Acronyms are fine. Ask looks for the rare, specific words in your question as well as its meaning, and tolerates acronyms spelled out letter by letter or slightly misheard in the transcript.
  • Still nothing? Search your library for the name to see how the transcript actually spelled it, then ask again with that spelling — or track it as a Topic and add the spelling there.

Narrow the question

Above the question box you can limit an answer to a date range, a folder, or a tag. Narrowing helps when a name comes up in many unrelated conversations, or when you only care about one project.

To ask about a single recording, open it and use Ask this recording.

Follow up

Keep going in the same conversation — “and what about pricing?” carries the subject of your last question with it. After most answers, Ask also suggests two or three follow-up questions you can select.

Answers appear as they’re written, with the sources they’re reading shown first. If it’s heading the wrong way, press Stop and rephrase.

Starter questions

When you open Ask, the suggested questions are drawn from your own library — the topics you track, the people you’ve named, your tags, and questions your recent summaries can answer. A brand-new account sees a few general examples instead.

Checking an answer

Every answer cites the recordings it used; select a source to open the recording at that moment. If Ask can’t find the answer in your recordings, it says so rather than guessing.

Plans

Asking one recording is included on every plan. Asking across your whole library — with date, folder and tag scopes — is part of Pro, Business and Teams, and a paid Teams workspace can ask across everything its members share. See Pricing.
